Ridgeline Retreat

This Glastonbury home is located on a ridge overlooking the Connecticut valley. The existing raised ranch style home has undergone a complete transformation and addition to create a high tech home in a modern aesthetic. The upper story of the home is clad in metal panels, punctuated with aluminum framed windows oriented toward the valley view. The lower level is covered in stucco to define a visual base.

New exterior glass canopies create a sheltered entry sequence leading to a lacewood clad foyer, which opens further to vaulted living and kitchen spaces. Custom built-ins include a stainless-steel shrouded fireplace with plasma display, bookcases in exotic wood veneer, and kitchen cabinets composed of cobalt glass panels.

An addition to the home provides a new master suite featuring a grand master bath, dressing rooms, and a sunken bedroom area; all within a light filled, loft type environment. A pivoting plasma display above a two sided gas fireplace divides the bedroom from the sitting area. The entire suite and terraced yard are viewable from a raised soaking tub.

The lower level features gaming and entertainment spaces open to a new front terrace via French doors. A new stair brings in light and creates a new connection to the rear yard from a home office space. A new hallway from the garage leads to a dramatic marble cased stairway to the upper level enclosed by 12 foot high panels of clear glass.
The entire home is smart wired for complete control of lighting, window shades, temperature, and audio/visual entertainment.

Over 300 yards of rock ledge was removed from the rear yard to form a terraced landscape upon which colonnades of flowering fruit trees screen the rear yard. A pool house with guest facilities and outdoor kitchen frames the pool area to create a landscaped court complete with a dramatic fire pit and recreational lawn area.
