The addition to the energy conscious built salt box is of similar design with the new garage located to the north to create a buffer from the northern elements. A large portion of the second floor is built within the protection of the roof envelope.

The additional first floor living space is comprised of a new covered entry and a bench for taking off and storage of shoes. The bench with its 7'-0" partition also served as a physical division between the new entry and the new breakfast room. The deck with its inviting cedar pergola is accessed through a 9'-0" French door from the new breakfast room. The first floor addition is 376 sq. ft. plus the garage and the fully functional deck.

The new second floor additional living space is comprised of the expansion of the master bath to allow for a new whirlpool tub bathing area, and space for a new double vanity. A new guest bedroom, excessed via the new stairway was added. The new guest bedroom also serves as a hobby room. A second floor laundry was included to the expansion by locating it within the new roof cavity. The second floor square footage is 399 sq. ft.
