The linear house has been designed to tuck
itself into the southern hill of the sloping
lot. High south facing gable windows located
above the clearstory kitchen allow for the
southern sun to penetrate the interiors
without sacrificing privacy to the close
proximity of the neighboring home. Skylights
are also located on the south facing roof
structure.
The
multi level open first floor
plan is designed for
entertaining. The circular
turreted entry element calls
out to visitors arriving on
the long articulated
driveway. The master suite,
located on the southwestern
corner of the home, is
buffeted from the public
spaces by a walk-in-closet
and laundry room.
The lower level spaces
have been located to afford them total grade
access. Utilitarian functions have been
located at the back of the building and
subgrade to the existing grade.
A multi
level circular deck and
stairs connects the public
and private areas to the
rolling landscape site. A
screen porch allows the
occupants an area to enjoy
the natural surrounding of
the woods and nearby stream.
