The presence of the historical Main Street residence required that the street view additions be minimized so as not to detract from the original Federal Style Architecture.
Typical to a historical Main Street lot, the house was squeezed onto a thin and long shaped section of land. Complicated by the proximity of the private septic field, the addition/renovation required extensive design work to contour the footprint within the limited buildable area.
The project called for the addition of a master suite with a full bath, which included a sauna, exercise and reading area. Also added were an office, laundry, powder room and a new mud room entrance. The mud room entrance was located and sized to match and balance with the existing front porch as seen from the street elevation. |
