CODY – CAPE TRANSFORMATION
GLASTONBURY, CONNECTICUT

The 1980’s Cape was getting too small for the Cody family. Wanting to maximize the existing second floor, dormers were added to not only add floor space, but to add natural light into each room. Along with the function objectives of additional space, the Owners desired to transform the minimal form of the Contemporary Cape into a traditional Southern Style Cape.

Much needed natural light and ventilation was gained in Bedroom #2 and Bedroom #4 via new street facing gable dormers. Bedroom #3 was added via a large gable dormer to help give a focal point to the new front. The Bath received a shed dormer which helped to provide a new double vanity, full windows, and much needed linen closet.

With a new metal clad front porch, multiple types of dormers and new siding, this Cape has definitely undergone a transformation.
